Tooth pain is the worst thing that can happen on a nice day. It can make your lips sore and tender, hurt your gums, and even give you a pretty bad headache. Toothaches let the brain know that something is wrong in the mouth. The best way to get rid of tooth pain is to see a dentist who can figure out what's wrong and fix it.
Deal with tooth pain
To see a doctor, a person may have to wait a few days or even longer. In that case, the person with the toothache has to find ways to deal with the discomfort and pain until it's time to go to the dentist. Here are some easy things you can do if your teeth hurt:
1. Wash with salt water
The main thing you need to make a saltwater rinse is probably already in your kitchen. Add about half a teaspoon of salt to an 8-ounce glass of warm water. Swish this rinse around in your mouth and then spit it out. This home treatment gets rid of the things that are bothering and hurting the tooth. It also feels numb on the skin.
2.Painkillers you can buy without a prescription
There are many over-the-counter pain drugs that can help with toothaches. Adults can take NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and children should take Tylenol. The person should swallow the pill instead of breaking it up and putting it on the hurt area. That home treatment doesn't work, and it can hurt the patient's mouth.
3. A pack of ice
A cold cloth can also help ease the pain of a toothache. It works really well when there is a lot of stiffness after the tooth pain. To make a cold compress, the patient just puts ice and a little bit of water in a freezer bag. Covering the compress with a clean cloth is important before putting it on the face for about 15 minutes and then taking it off for another 15 minutes. Steps should be repeated as often as necessary.
4.An over-the-counter medicine
To help your teeth and gums feel better, you can buy pain-relieving drinks and creams without a prescription. Most of these things work because they have benzocaine in them, which makes the area slightly numb. Dentists say that unless a doctor or dentist tells you to, you shouldn't use these things for more than 10 days.
5. Clove oil
When you have a toothache, clove oil is an old remedy that helps a lot. The person just dips a cotton ball in the oil and rubs it on the area that hurts. It is a natural way to treat toothaches, but it can work just as well as products with benzocaine.
Get long-term toothache relief
There are a lot of over-the-counter medicines and home remedies that can temporarily ease tooth pain. Even though these things can help briefly until you can see a dentist, the only way to get long-term relief from a toothache is to see a dentist who can figure out what's wrong and fix it.
Is there a way to permanently kill a toothache nerve in 3 seconds?
There are two good ways to kill tooth pain nerve in 3 seconds permanently:
i) Pulling out the nerve of the tooth, or ii) taking the whole tooth out. Both of these methods get rid of the nerve that causes tooth pain, so you feel better right away.
Only a dentist can remove the nerve from a tooth during a root treatment. The pain stops as soon as the nerve is cut.
To get rid of a tooth, the whole thing has to be taken out. Most of the time, local analgesia is used. Even though this method leaves a hole where the tooth used to be, it relieves teeth pain in the long run.
All the other ways only help for a short time because they don't treat the broken nerve that is causing the pain. You have to fix the nerve itself, not just the symptoms, for long-term healing.
What can immediately stop a pain?
Either the nerve of the tooth or the whole tooth can be taken out to stop a toothache right away. Both ways will remove the nerve so it can't hurt you anymore. You'll feel better once you get rid of whatever is causing the nerve pain.
Root drilling is how the nerve of the tooth is taken out. The nerve will leave the tooth, but the tooth itself will stay in the mouth. The pain will stop as soon as the nerve is gone. This treatment can only be done by your dentist, though.
• Tooth removal: This is when the whole tooth is taken out. There are many ways to get rid of a tooth, but the most common way is to have your dentist do it with local anesthesia. It's the least painful way to do it because you'll be numb the whole time. There will be a hole in your mouth where the tooth used to be.
WHAT MAKES MY TEETH HURT?
The first step to being able to enjoy the little things in life again, like a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a crisp apple, is to figure out what's causing your toothache.
Depending on what is causing your tooth pain and how bad it is, you may have headaches, face pain, or a sore mouth. This can be caused by a lot of different things. It could be something as easy as missing teeth or gum disease, or it could be something more serious like teeth that aren't coming in straight or problems with the jaw.1 Most toothaches are caused by the following:
• Decay and holes in the teeth;
• Bad teeth;
• Gums that shrink;
• Abscess;
• Teeth or fillings that are cracked or broken;
• Wisdom teeth and other teeth that don't come in straight;
A sinus illness or pain in the joint that connects the jaw to the brain can also cause a toothache.
Make an appointment to see your doctor if the pain is serious or is on the side of your jaw.3 If your symptoms have been going on for more than two days, you should talk to a doctor about tooth pain care to rule out anything more serious.
These are the only two ways to permanently stop a toothache. All the other methods will only help with the pain for a short time because they don't deal with the cause, which is a nerve that isn't healthy. If you want the pain to stop, you have to treat the nerve itself, not just the symptoms.
Still, if you're interested, there are ways to make a hurting tooth nerve feel better. It might work or it might not, but it's worth trying.
COULD YOUR TOOTH PAIN BE CAUSED BY SENSITIVE TEETH?
Have you ever had a toothache after eating ice cream? When you go outside when it's cold, do your teeth hurt? Even though the pain comes and goes, it could mean that your teeth are too sensitive.
The good news is that sometimes the signs of sore teeth are easy to take care of. In the short term, you can keep pain at bay by drinking through a straw, avoiding very hot or cold temperatures, and eating soft foods. Over-the-counter creams and drugs like ibuprofen or tylenol can help with tooth pain, as can something as simple as rinsing your mouth with cold water (children shouldn't do this).8
But life is too short to be careful all the time around teeth that hurt. If you brush your teeth twice a day with sensitive toothpaste that your doctor has cleared, you won't have to worry about tooth pain caused by sensitivity.
Remember that you should go to the dentist if you have a fever, a bad taste in your mouth, or swollen cheeks or jaws.9
Find tooth pain relief that works.
There are a lot of easy things you can do at home to help ease tooth pain and make it easier to deal with. Take aspirin or ibuprofen to relieve pain quickly, but keep in mind that this isn't a long-term solution. If the pain doesn't go away, you should see a doctor.
Long-term, limiting the amount of sugary foods you eat, brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride-containing toothpaste, and going to the dentist regularly will help protect your teeth from decay and gum disease so you can live your life without toothaches.
