Automotive catalytic converter substrate support mat classification

This article introduces the classification of automotive catalytic converter substrate support mat in detail, mainly including five categories of products.

Ceramic sealing substrate support mat is widely used in automotive catalytic converters. The ceramic carrier is tightly fixed in the metal shell, which can meet the packaging requirements of automotive catalytic converters under all temperature and pressure conditions.

Existing automotive catalytic converter substrate support mat product lines are Intumescent Seal Substrate Support Mat, Non-Intumescent Seal Substrate Support Mat, Edge Seal Intumescent Substrate Support Mat, Multilayer Composite Seal Substrate Support Mat, and Composite Intumescent Seal Substrate Support Mat.

(1) Automotive catalytic converter expansion seal substrate support mat

The expansion sealing substrate support mat is an elastic sealing substrate support mat that combines ceramic fiber with high-temperature durability and vermiculite with high-temperature expansion. Suitable for most conventional catalytic converters, especially for automobile three-way catalytic converters.

(2) Non-expandable sealing substrate support mat for automotive catalytic converters

The non-expandable sealing substrate support mat is made of high-temperature resistant ceramic fiber as raw material and does not contain vermiculite. Suitable for automotive three-way catalytic converters with thin-walled or very thin-walled carriers, or used interchangeably with intumescent substrate support mats, and can also be used as intumescent cushion edge sealing or port insulation.

(3) Automotive catalytic converter edge seal expansion substrate support mat

The edge sealing expanded substrate support mat is to bond two narrow non-expanded substrate support mats on both sides of a piece of expanded substrate support mat containing vermiculite. Suitable for coupled/manifolded catalysts and catalysts with non-axisymmetric airflow designs, as well as wide elliptical carriers.

(4) Automotive catalytic converter multilayer composite sealing substrate support mat

The multilayer composite sealing substrate support mat is a sealed substrate support mat composed of a layer of expanded substrate support mat containing vermiculite and another layer of non-expanded substrate support mat not containing vermiculite. It is suitable for automotive three-way catalytic converters with thin-walled or extremely thin-walled carriers.

(5) Automotive catalytic converter compound expansion seal substrate support mat

The composite expansion sealing substrate support mat is an expansion sealing substrate support mat composed of an expanded substrate support mat containing vermiculite and a graphite layer. Suitable for most conventional catalytic converters, especially particulate traps for diesel engines.
