What is Cooking?

Cooking is making edible food which can heal you. Normally this is in the context of cooking raw fish into cooked fish. Other times, it can be adding ingredients together to create something such as a cake, pies, or wines.

Benefits of Cooking?

Cooking can be a relaxing skill to train which is afkable. Cooking also has very high Exp rates. You can also train using more intense methods with insane Exp rates. Cooking is a profitable skill while also being afkable makes it a common skill for newer players to train to make easy starting cash. At level 99 Cooking, you will be awarded with the Runescape Old School Infernal Cape Cooking Cape. Wearing the Cooking Cape while Cooking gives you the ability to never burn fish.

Methods of training:

Often it is best to buy raw fish off of the Grand Exchange or from other players. At lower levels, you will get a large amount of Exp, but you make no profit. Alternatively, you can fish the raw fish, or buy them from shops to cook. As a rough estimate, this will be a rough estimation of what you want to cook at each level. Note that you can continue with Monks, Sharks, Anglers, or Karambwans to level 99, but lower fish on the chart will give less Exp per hour, but may make more money.

Level 1-5: Sardine

Level 5-10: Herring

Level 10-15: Mackerel

Level 15-25: Trout

Level 25-30: Salmon

Level 30-40 Tuna (90k exp / hr)

Level 40-62 Lobster (120-150k exp / hr)

Level 62-80 Monkfish (150-200k exp / hr)

Level 80-84 Shark (250-300k exp / hr)

Level 84-93/99 Anglerfish (300k exp / hr)

Level 93-99 Karambwans (280k - 800k exp / hr)

Level 30-99: Karambwans

Karambwans are a great example of the amount of experience you can get with Cooking. With Tick manipulation, you can get up to 800k Exp per hour, cooking roughly 4000 Karambwans per hour. On average, without manipulation, you can cook roughly 1.3k fish per hour netting 280k per hour. Successfully cooking Karambwans 100% of the time requires level

Level 35/68-99: Jugs of Wine

If you are looking for the fastest Exp with little amount of effort, Jugs of Wine are the best way to level. To get to 99 you will need to make 62,147 Jugs of wine from level 68. Below level 68, there is a chance to make bad wine which results in 0 Exp. You can expect to make up to 450k Exp per hour, and lose about 4 million gold in the process. It will take an estimate of roughly 25 hours to get to 99, making it one of the fastest skills to get to 99 while also having a minor cost. Jugs of wine are made by using grapes in a jug of water costing 62 gold per wine. This method does require more attention than cooking fish, but is done much quicker.

Hosidius Cooking Range:

If you have 100% Favor with Hosidius house, you have access to the cooking range. This Range is better then other ranges in the game giving a lower chance to burn fish by 5%. If you have the Elite diaries done, this increases to 10%. Due to this increased chance to not burn fish, it is highly suggested as it will increase your Exp and profits along with using Cooking Gauntlets.

Cooking Gauntlets:

Cooking Gauntlets are one of three potential rewards after completing the quest Family crest. If you did the quest and obtained the Gold Smith Gauntlets or the Chaos Gauntlets, You can do the Family Pest miniquest which will require you to pay 500k to complete, but giving access to all gauntlets.  Cooking Gauntlets give a lower chance to burn Lobsters, Swordfish, Monkfish, Sharks, and Anglerfish. All of these fish are very commonly cooked and it is highly suggested to get the gauntlets before cooking as they increase the Exp and profit of the cooking skill.
