What is a Dynamic Risk Assessment? A Dynamic risk assessment is the process of reviewing and assessing risks as they are identified and changing the assessment as needed to ensure that the most current information is used. The goal of a dynamic risk assessment is to reduce the probability of adverse events, while maximizing benefits.
The steps in conducting a dynamic risk assessment are:
1) Establish the context for the assessment- this includes identifying who will be involved, what system or process is being assessed, and what time frame will be considered.
2) Identify hazards- this includes both physical and chemical hazards as well as human factors.
3) Evaluate the severity of harm associated with each hazard- this should include both short term and long.
4) Define your objectives and scope: What do you want to achieve? What areas are you going to cover?
5) Identify hazards and risks: What could go wrong and how might it impact your objectives?
6) Assess the risks: How likely is it that each hazard will occur and what are the potential consequences?
