The Occultist is an extremely important vendor that may enchant your gear to alter the stat rolls, imprint Legendary Aspects onto rare/legendary gear in addition to craft Sigils that are required to open Nightmare Dungeons. The ability to extract and imprint Legendary Aspects allows your character to customize their powers and make incredibly powerful gear pieces. Whether you discover an Aspect on the random bit of gear, or farm-specific Dungeons to complete your Codex of Power, the Occultist is much more than prepared to imprint your gear in return for some coin.
Legendary Aspects
Legendary Aspects are special mods you can put onto rare ones to turn them legendary. Legendary items which drop hanging around also roll an Aspect based on the slot type it is, which you can extract in the Occultist.
You may also complete specific Dungeons on the planet to unlock Aspects for that Codex of Power. These provide you with a baseline of bonuses to depend on while you watch for better gear to decrease. However, when imprinted in the Occultist, they always roll the cheapest possible value. Since most legendary effects possess a range, you'll still want to get available to search for better versions of these yourself and may replace your low rolls using the better versions you discover.
Sometimes the Aspects you discover on gear are extremely powerful, however, the gear slot it's on fails well for the character. For a heavy Gold cost, you can extract the Legendary Aspect in the item, destroying it along the way. Then you can imprint that onto a gear slot that's better suited for the build.
Imprint Aspect
You imprint an Aspect in the Codex of Power, or perhaps an extracted Legendary Aspect onto a rare/legendary item for any heavy fee. This turns a previously rare item into legendary and marks it as being "Imprinted". Imprinted Aspects can't be extracted, and imprinted items can't be traded.
Aspects fall under one of 5 categories, plus they can only be imprinted onto specific gear slots. The categories and slots they are able to apply to are listed below:
Defensive - Shield, Helm, Chest, Pants, Amulet
Offensive - Amulet, Weapon, Gloves, Ring
Resource - Ring
Utility - Shield, Helm, Chest, Amulet, Gloves, Boots
Mobility - Amulet, Boot
Aspects also receive bonuses in line with the gear slot you add to these phones. Amulets boost the power from the Aspect by 50% while 2-Handed weapons gain a 100% bonus. To maximize your power, you have to map out your Aspects for every slot while you plan your character for the greatest bonuses possible.
Extract Aspect
When you discover a Legendary Aspect on the piece of gear you do not need, you are able to extract it in the Occultist for any steep Gold cost. This places the Aspect in your separate Aspect Inventory tab, where they're stored for future use. You may also move these Aspects for your Stash should you run out of space. Extracted Aspects demonstrate the allowable item types they are able to apply to and then any bonuses they might receive when imprinted on specific pieces.
