Technical SEO is a key part of successful marketing via the Web. This post will tell you what Technical SEO is and how it differs from other forms of SEO, and how important Technical SEO is to you and your business.
What do we mean by “Technical SEO”? Well, basically, we’re talking about anything that has to do with the optimization of a webpage for search engines. The goal is to make sure that the website ranks as highly as possible for relevant keywords in natural search engine results pages (SERPS).
Technical SEO is part of the broader field of SEO. It’s one of the more technical aspects of SEO and is often confused with, or conflated with, other forms of technical optimization, such as accessibility (which deals with ensuring your site is accessible to disabled users), or web development best practices. Technical SEO also includes a number of practices that can be directly measured by search engine algorithms, while many other superior aspects of SEO are harder to measure (and thus quantify). Some people would say that Technical SEO encompasses everything that isn’t link-based. I think it makes more sense to add “Website Analysis" (or "Technical Audit") as an addition to "Technical SEO".
